Accident? Awarded £78,000.00

It was a sunny, spring Sunday and Richard (not his real name) had arranged to meet a couple of friends later that morning. He set off on his motorbike in plenty of time. Richard was doing about 45mph. As he reached the bend the car coming the other way turned sharply across Richard's path. He just had time to apply his brakes before he hit the trailer the car had been towing. The impact knocked the trailer over and smashed the front of the bike. Richard went over the handlebars, bounced off the trailer and landed further down the road. Richard woke up in hospital with a badly broken left arm and leg. He's convinced that buying high quality motorcycle clothing saved him from a lot worse. After 3 operations and 3 weeks he was discharged home on crutches. It took a lot of hard work and a further 18 months before he could go back to work. Now, apart from a few scars and occasional aches and pains he is back to normal. The car driver claimed that Richard was not in view when he started his turn and denied liability. If Richard lost his claim he would get nothing.
